Elvis in Jailhouse Rock (1957)
The year 1957 sees Elvis star in his second and third movies: Loving You and Jailhouse Rock. The photo beside this text is a still from Jailhouse Rock, one of his most iconic performances.
Below is an instrumental version of “Jailhouse Rock.” Even without Elvis’s voice, the rhythm and energy still capture the spirit of his 1957 performance.
An interesting tidbit: Randall Duell, the art director for Jailhouse Rock, later helped design the themed areas of Six Flags Over Texas. That means I've got a little piece of Elvis history right in my own backyard.
At right is a still from Elvis’s second movie, Loving You. The film’s title came from a song featured in the movie, and it remains one of his sweetest early ballads.
